Verified Reviewer |Carrageenan
I have been buying giant brand of cottage cheese and discovered it contains carrageenan. Then just purchased an expensive crab stuffed mushroom with it in there too!!! Might be boycotting giant products or the entire store altogether.
- Expensive

Subject: Formal Complaint Racial Profiling Incident at Giants #6549 (10** ** S Broad St, Philadelphia) on [date]
To Whom It May Concern,
I am writing to file a formal complaint about a deeply disturbing incident that occurred at your Giants store #6549, 1001 29 S. Broad Street (Broad & Washington Ave), Philadelphia, PA 19147, on Thursday, 08/06/2026.
My 17-year-old son entered the store and picked up a $3.99 container of cookies. A male employee approached him and, without cause, demanded the cookies be taken from my son and declared he would take them up front. My son told the employee he intended to pay; instead, the employee insisted my son hand the item over. My son was not suspected of shoplifting, has never been in trouble with the law, and was simply shopping. We believe this treatment was racial profiling and discriminatory.
I spoke to a store manager at the time who said the matter would be taken care of. That response is not acceptable. I demand:
A formal apology to my son from the employee who confronted him.
A full investigation into this incident, including a review of surveillance footage and witness statements.
Appropriate corrective action and training for staff to prevent racial profiling and discrimination.
A written response to me within 10 business days outlining findings and actions taken.
I have been a customer of this store for years and spend my hard-earned money there. After this incident, my son is shaken and unwilling to return. I hope you will treat this complaint seriously and take meaningful action to ensure no other customer is mistreated this way.

Verified Reviewer |Price Gouging, Poor excuse for a grocery store
- - Prices are very high, seen as corporate greed.
- - Examples: $18.99 cheesecake, $28 hamburger pack, and cereal still $5.
There is absolutely no reason for the high pricing of just about everything on your shelves. The corporate office should be ashamed of themselves.
It's nothing but greed from the corporate level. $18.99 for a cheesecake that is made in-house is a good example. $28 for a pack of hamburger is another example. Back in 2020, Giant Foods' excuse was supply chains and a box of cereal was $5.
It's 2026 and guess what, the supply chain was fixed years ago and a box of cereal is still $5. Greed at its finest.
- To expensive
Preferred solution: Apology
User's recommendation: Avoid all Giant food locations. Go to Walmart for basics, and to a local butcher for meats

Verified Reviewer |Error on gas rewards
Yesterday I purchased groceries, and after completing the purchase, I had 308 points in my account. I purchased gasoline later and received a 20 cents per gallon discount instead of 30 cents per gallon.
My balance now shows as 8 points. What ever happened to the other 100 points?
- We use giant direct and the gas rewards program

Verified Reviewer |Bad business decisions!
I have no idea as to why this owner decided to do away with their delivery team and opted to use uber drivers to deliver. Really foolish decision!

Clip and save program
- - Peaches price rose from 99¢ to $1.99.
- - To get the $1.99 price you must update the app, login, and spend $25.
Peaches were on sale for
99 cents Mon. Today they are $1.99.
To get peaches at 1.99 I had to update the app and try to login. The manager said I could put my phone number in a screen in the front of the store and print out a list with all sale items.
The catch is you also have to purchase $25 in groceries to get the $1.99 peaches.
I did not need anything else so I left empty handed.
This is just nonsense! No other grocery store forces this on the consumer.
There are many choices for grocery shopping in our community, if this policy doesn't change, I will move on.

Store mistake on sale labels for 12 pack Pepsi and A&W root beer
- - Pepsi buy 2 get 2 free label did not mention A&W root beer; receipt shows 4 Pepsi charged and 0 A&W, credit for 2 Pepsi requested.
Sale label stated buy 2 12 pack Pepsi's get two free. Label did not mention A&W root beer.
I purchased the 4 cases of Pepsi. I then saw a sale label for A&W root beer that said if you purchase 2 cases of Pepsi, 2 cases of A&W root beer were free. My sales receipt showed a charge for 4 cases of Pepsi and no charge for 2 cases of A&W root beer. The sales label for the buy2 get 2 free of Pepsi should have mentioned the A&W root beer which it did not.
I have copies of both sales labels. I want a credit for the 2 case of Pepsi.
User's recommendation: Check your receipt before leaving store!

Verified ReviewerResolved: Failure to delver ordered items an guananteed substitution for samee
- - Ordered 10 bottles of diet tonic water; only 1 liter arrived.
- - 9 bottles missing; charged to Visa.
- - No resolution; escalation denied.
Company fixed the issue and I have been provided with apology. waived shipping charge. call and if that doesn't work, post on social media.
aid order arrived about 1.16.2026 about 11.49 am. However, only 1 liter bottte was delivered to me, which I do not consider to be the fault of the driver. I placed a call to the customer "care" number of 1-80*-***.4268 to see what was going on. I spoke to a CSR named *** - no surname was provided nor my request to speak to a supervisor accommodated upon my legitimate request, never mind the full charge for my order including the 9 missing bottles of diet tonic water were convieniently charged to my Visa card.
Absolutely NO resolution was offrered or provided to me, despite the fact that I've been a loyal GiANT custtomer for at least gong on 16 years now.
This lack of abseence to diet tonic water is apt to have an adverse affect on my health and well being, especially given that I'm practically a senior cititzen with various heath issues Your immediate attention and positive response are greately appreciated. Thank you!aorprpro

Verified Reviewer |Birthday cake gone wrong
- - A cake was picked up on Feb 7.
- - The cake was pink despite requests for bright colors.
- - The order read Susan #65 and had no happy birthday message.
I understand that this message is almost a month overdue. On February 7th, my husband picked up a birthday cake for me.
He had stated that he wanted bright colors. The entire cake was done in pink. When he ordered it, he just said '*** #65,' forgetting to say happy birthday. The day we went to pick it up, he had asked them to write happy birthday on it, with a bright color, and of course, they used pink again.
He thought for sure that they would maybe add a balloon.
They did not.
Thank you for reading.
- Love shopping there
- Will never order a cake again
Preferred solution: Full refund
User's recommendation: Make sure you double or triple check before you leave with the color details

Verified Reviewer |GIFT CARD ISSUES/NEVER DELIVERED
- - Struggled to order a Giant gift card; security checks blocked it.
- - Delivery took 12 business days with no tracking; refund issued after delays.
I suggest never trying to order a physical gift card from Giant Food Stores to be shipped. First of all, it took me four tries to even order one because I wasn't passing some 'security checks' when my card was fine and had the funds.
Then I got an email saying I could try again for the next three days, and then it worked. Why do I only have three days though? Why couldn't or why can't I order one whenever I want? But then, after twelve business days of waiting and one day before the recipient's birthday, I had to call and complain that it hadn't been delivered, and they refunded my money when it said five to seven business days on the website, but then she said ten over the phone and it got to twelve.
I called customer service to try to find out where the card was and was transferred over a period of two hours to eight numbers and nobody could help me. 'We don't have access to those details.' You can't tell me not one person couldn't look up my order info and tell me what was going on? I even accidentally got transferred to corporate, and they were clueless. If not a soul in the company can help me, how was I supposed to help myself?
It was a lose-lose situation from the start, but I tried to have faith to no avail. I don't care if I sound like a ***, but educate your staff to do better, give them access to details they need if you are going to hide them from the customer. I was 1) never asked to make a Giant account, 2) never asked about or given a tracking number. Nobody in the company could give me any info on tracking, and I was never offered.
Customer support should be able to help customers, no???
I will never spend a dime of my own money with this company again because of how much time of mine was wasted, tears shed from frustration, and I will encourage others not to shop at this greedy corporation that has no problem taking money from people and then not delivering when promised. Change the website information to reflect the truth then.
- Online ordering flaws
- Uneducated customer service staff
- Prices
Preferred solution: I'm getting my money back in a refund after calling. I just wanted the card to be delivered and I want the corporation to do better, train the customer service staff to have the information and details they need to actually help customers.
User's recommendation: STAY AWAY
Resolved: Giant double charge me almost 300.00
- - Terrible customer service; the agent argued instead of helping.
- - The agent was rude; the reviewer is nearly 70 and asks for a callback at 610-999-****.
Terrible customer service she was actually arguing with me instead of helping me. I was a customer service manager and I said the word you know that she was complaining and bitching but I know I shouldve not had said that, but she was so rude to me and Im not feeling well I am almost 70 years old.
I did not need to get treated like that. Call me back ***.
Preferred solution: Full refund
User's recommendation: The girl I spoke to should be fired. There’s too many people out there looking for jobs.

Verified ReviewerThe produce sucks
- - Parsley turned black after water and isn't usable for Easter dinner.
- - Carrots and other foods have a musty taste and smell.
I purchased parsley yesterday and brought it home and put it in water. Today it is black.
Not usable for Easter dinner, so I will have to go back again. This keeps happening. I am seriously considering calling the Health Department to check if you have mold in the back. Carrots and other foods have a musty taste and smell.
I go to ***. What is going on?
Preferred solution: See improvement with the produce.

Verified ReviewerPrices and deceptive PR marketing
- - Giant's prices are higher than Walmart and other grocers.
- - Checkout donations are seen as a PR tactic to collect funds and rewards yield pennies.
I have utilized the Giant food store habitually over the last couple of years because of its closeness to my home. But it has become more and more evident that their prices are inflated, and in fact, they *** their customers compared to Walmart and other competitive grocery stores.
Take a moment and compare prices at Giant with Walmart; you will find 50 cents or more price differences on most commodities. Giant also constantly targets its customers at checkout with donation prompts. What seems on the surface as charitable interventions is, in fact, an evil corporate public relations scam where Giant collects these donations and then uses them for their own PR purposes and also, most probably, to reduce their tax burden when in fact it is another way they make their customers pay more for using their stores. They do have a loyalty rewards program, but with closer analysis, a customer will only get mere pennies back while the store is jacking up their prices on their commodities.
Beware of using Giant if you are trying to save any money. Walmart may be a global entity, but they do not act like they are really doing something special for their customers while Giant uses clever PR ploys to make their customers pay significantly more at checkout.
- Closeness to my home
- Poor management and deceptive marketing practices
- High prices
User's recommendation: Be wary shop around Walmart and other competitors are a better value
Poor customer service
- - Visited Quakertown PA on West End Blvd for a prime sale; they don’t cut single ribs.
- - On Social Security, more than one rib is costly, plus gas.
Went to ***, ***, *** to get a prime on sale, asked for one rib and was told they don't cut them. My wife and I are on Social Security, so more than one rib is expensive. Plus the current cost of gas at today's prices.
- Good prices and supply
- Poor customer service
Preferred solution: better customer service
User's recommendation: went to the quakertoqn pa west end blvd store to get a prime rib that was on sale. i asked for one rib and was told they dont cut them. my wife and i are living on social security, so getting more than one rib is expensive.
